Pür Minerals has tapped makeup artist to the stars Jackie Gomez as the brand’s in-house makeup artist, bringing her immense expertise to Pür Minerals’ collection of gentle, effective, mineral-based cosmetics. One of the beauty authorities behind the trademark looks of A-listers like Marisa Miller, Zoe Saldana and Kerry Washington, Gomez also works with superstar Beyoncé Knowles and is renowned for the red carpet-ready looks she creates.
Naturally, when I heard this news, I had to try some of Jackie's favorite Pur Minerals products. I mean, if she creates red carpet looks for celebs, she clearly knows what she's doing. One of her favorites is really great, especially now that Summer is here and we all want a bit of a glow (without any sunbathing for me). Pur Minerals Mineral Glow/Mineral Light is a fantastic powder duo that gives your skin a healthy bronze and glow without looking fake. I love it because it makes my pale skin glow but without any of the cakey mess that a lot of powders leave (especially because my skin is dry). Another one of Jackie's favorites is Pur Minerals Pout Plumping Lip Gloss in Pink Quartz which is actually hydrating but is extremely thick so you have to be light-handed with the wand. If you're not careful you will end up with the Wet and Wild lipstick look from the 80's (maybe that was just me who experienced this with the shimmery pink/coral hues). Anyway, this is not a sheer gloss by any means, so if you're looking for a natural look for your lips, I would steer clear of this one. And a forewarning, the scent is definitely funky so if you have any aversion to strong smells, this is not the lip gloss for you. As for if it plumps lips as intended? I didn't see any difference in my lips sadly. Even though the gloss was a miss for me, I do like their Triple Impact Mascara. While the mascara doesn't curl lashes (one of the "triple" things it's supposed to do), it does thicken and lengthen which is great. I love how natural it looks and so what if it doesn't curl? Grab that curling wand and put it to use. I mean you did spend a small fortune buying the Shu Uemura one, didn't you?
