I love the smell of peppermint (the day Starbucks puts out their Peppermint Mocha during the holidays is my favorite coffee day of all). So it makes sense that I've been wanting to try Philip B's Peppermint & Avocado Volumizing & Clarifying Shampoo for awhile now. I've heard so many good things about it, but I was kind of scared that it wouldn't live up to the hype and well, life is hard and there are enough things to be disappointed in besides my shampoo, so I sort of put off trying it. Bad move, because I finally did and it is awesome. It smells really strongly of peppermint, so it wakes my lazy self up when I use it in the morning (always a plus!) but the formula is what I really love. Even though it's safe to use if you color your hair, it's a really powerful cleanser. (It has 16 pure plant extracts, 11 essential and carrier oils, and 2.3% pure peppermint oil). Apparently, those things let it work as a local anesthetic "to soothe scalp tension, stimulate circulation, and leave your scalp feeling tingly fresh and clean." So true. My hair felt squeaky, squeaky clean when I used this in the morning, and it was really shiny too. The only drawback that I could even remotely find is that it's pretty expensive - an 11.8 ounce bottle will set you back $40 - but at least unlike some other pricey things I've tried, I really like the result. I think a good plan is to treat yourself to a bottle and then ration it out, using it on mornings when you really need a pick me up or nights when you have a big event. It'll make the magic last that much longer. (That's what they mean by economizing right?)
