A Clear Day

I almost never break out anymore (which, thank God - I mean, there should be some damn benefits to getting older!) but I've had the worst cold for the past week and somehow at the same time, also managed to acquire the hugest zit of all time on my cheek.  My cheek!  Even during my teenage years, I never had one single pimple on my cheek.  It looks ridiculous.  (Luckily, due to the cold, I haven't left my condo very much so at least I'm not scaring small children with it).  I don't have many products in my arsenal for acne because I so rarely need them, but I did have this tube of Ole Henricksen's Roll-On Acne Clearing Solution taking up precious space in my medicine cabinet (it's prime real estate in there!) so I finally decided to try it out.  And thank God I'd held onto it for some reason because it's awesome.  It seems like it's drying out the blemish faster than I remember them going away (it's only the size of like, Los Angeles right now, not all of California anymore).  And the roll-on aspect of it makes it super easy to apply - you can take it with you and quickly reapply anywhere without even getting your hands dirty.  It also makes it easy to only put the solution where you want it so you don't dry out the rest of your face.  I may not need it very often, but I'm super happy I know that I have it now for the next time I need it.  (Hopefully not any time soon...)  Now if only it could take care of this cold too...

Summer Mask

I am soooo coveting Ole Henriksen's Blue/Blackberry Enzyme Mask right now!  I can't think of two better summer-y fruits to slather on my face, and it's supposed to be good for sensitive skin!  Not to mention the fact it contains lavender and a blend of fruit extracts to smooth and polish the skin. I really need this one.  Anyone already checked it out?!  Retails for $32.00.

 

 

Who Knew Black Currant Could Be So Luxurious?!

As a general rule, I do not use any oils on my face.  I know that moisturizing oils work amazing for super-dry skin (body), but every single time I've tried one on my face I end up shrieking in pain while I frantically try to wash off whatever junk I subjected my poor face to.  And then there's always the stares from strangers later in the day because my face still looks like someone took sandpaper to it.  So when I checked out Ole Henriksen's Black Currant Complexion Oil I immediately apologized to my face for what I was about to put it through... and... shockingly, my skin loved this stuff!  No redness, no itching, no stinging - just happy skin.  This unique oil contains geranium, which is supposed to calm the skin, blackcurrant oil, which helps to repair environmental damage, and apricot kernal oil, which helps skin survive harsh wintery conditions.  All of these wonderful ingredients make for the most luxurious facial oil - perfect for anyone whose skin could use an extra boost.  It's actually helped to alleviate redness and smells so wonderful I could bathe in it.  The bottle has a small dropper at the top which prevents you from over-using so the bottle will last you a long time.  I have been using it underneath my regular moisturizer during the day and have even been bringing it with me to work to pat some on during the day if my skin is starting to get tight.  I'm so happy I fought my fear of face oils to check this bad boy out.  Retails for $32.00.

Be Truthful

 

I just checked out the newest skin cream by Ole Henriksen and I have to say it reminds me of a bright, sunny day (which is especially uplifting in this weird LA gloom we've got going on right now).  Truth Revealed Super Creme with SPF 15 smells of citrus (instead of sunscreen which is amazing) and really makes skin look fabulous.  I am super impressed that this somewhat thick creme goes on smoothly, sinks right in and doesn't irritate even my sensitive skin.  It also surprisingly created a great makeup base (my foundation has been lasting longer since I started using this cream).  Great product and definitely worth the $65.00 pricetag.  Also, I just noticed on their site that if you spend $50.00, the shipping is free for the month of October.  Score!

Invigorate Your Skin

I've been a tad obsessed with Ole Henriksen lately.  Pretty much every product I've tried, I've loved, plus I had the most amazing Deluxe African Red Tea Body Cocktail treatment at the salon in West Hollywood.  I've literally been dreaming about it ever since.  It was that good.  But my favorite Ole product at the moment is the Invigorating Night Gel.  I'm all about the serums when it comes to skin care because I feel like they usually do things that cleansers and toners can't.  (And as a side note, I better look damn good when I'm old after all the effort that I've put into fighting things like wrinkles, crow's feet, etc...  If it does not pay off somewhere down the line, I'm going to be one very unhappy product whore).  I put the night gel on after I've cleansed and toned at night and I think I'm definitely seeing results.  (I've been doing it for about 6 weeks now).  It's a light gel that has a concentrated complex of alpha hydroxy acids, so as you're sleeping, they're working to give you a brighter, glowier (is "glowier" a word?  If it isn't, I'm making it one right now) clearer complexion.  It also has vitamins in it, is paraben-free, and tightens your pores, which in turn makes your skin firmer and smoother.  I think my skin just looks better since I've been using it, which is all the proof that I need to want to keep using it.  It's pretty cost effective too - the jar is $45, but a little goes a really long way.  I still have a ton left after all the time I've been using it.  But the best part really is that you get to look better and fight aging with basically little to no effort.  Effective and easy?  I'm totally in.

Oo La La for Ole

The older I get, the more I can admit to myself that I'm lazy.  I find it hard to get off the couch after work, find it hard to get up early in the morning to work out, and find it hard to make my bed every morning.  So, it's pretty amazing that I have stuck to a routine of applying sunscreen every morning.  Okay, fine, it's easier because it's in my moisturizer - but still!  The new Sun-Light Protection Creme with SPF 30 by Ole Henriksen makes applying moisturizer with spf an easy task - even for a lazy chick like myself.  It smells incredibly fresh, provides wonderful hydration (thanks to the shea butter) and sinks in incredibly fast.  The real treat, for me, is how un-sunscreeny this creme smells.  I mix in a little with just my regular moisturizer and like magic, I have soft skin that is completely protected from the sun's rays.  Now, the real confusion is whether Ole Henriksen is pronounced "Ole" (like at a bullfight) or "oo-ley" as they suggested in one of my magazines recently.  Well, however the pronounciation, this guy has created an amazing line and it's shockingly well-priced.  This creme is only $28.00.  I even walked to the back of Sephora to buy it - how un-lazy of me.

Scrub-a-dub-dub

I am a big baby when it comes to pain.  Getting a shot - usually cry like a baby.   Sore muscles after a gym workout - cry like a baby.  Papercut - you get the idea here.  So, when it comes to my facial exfoliating routine, I can't stand a harsh scrub.  If I do use one, I feel as though my face is going to fall right off.  I'm usually left red, raw and peeling - none of the things I was hoping for.  Since I have discovered Ole Henriksen's New Beginning Scrub, my world has changed.  (Okay, maybe I'm being a little bit of a drama queen, but take note of my comments above).  Anyway, this wonderfully gentle facial scrub is comprised of jojoba wax beads that carefully slough off dead skin without making me reach for the Neosporin afterwards.  I have been using it three times a week and my skin is glowing, soft and I'm not crying.  Now that's a big step for me.

My Lips Say "Ole!"
