I love my long hair, but finding cute things to do with it is always a problem. It gets to be so annoying that I usually end up just letting it down around my shoulders. Which is annoying because everyone (okay, my mom) says that it looks better up. But there's only so many times you can just do a ponytail, you know? Then I got the chance to try out Knotheads and now my mom is very happy. Knot Heads are "a hair accessory with a twist" - literally. Basically, they look kind of like fancy fabric covered pipe cleaners (I know that makes them sound ugly, but they're totally not). You can get them in two different lengths - one for short hair and one for long - and all sorts of colors and patterns (I'm partial to the classic black myself). Because they twist and weave through your hair, you can do all sorts of things with them. You can use it to create a headband, wrap it to put your hair up in an easy ponytail, or get all crazy and twist it around your hair to create a fancy updo. (I'm determined to master the updo look for a wedding I'm going to at the end of the month, but I'm so not skilled at hair things. I almost knocked myself out trying to see what the back of it looked like in my bathroom mirror. So sad...) I like that Knot Heads are reusable and gentle on your hair - as much as those expensive ponytail holders are supposed to be long hair "safe," they seem to always pull out a good chunk of my hair when I take them off and I hate that. It makes me nervous that twenty years from now, I'll be one of those women on TV talking about how male pattern baldness isn't just for men. Shudder!
Knot Heads are washable too, so they'll last you a long time if you take care of them. And at only $11.95, they're totally reasonable, especially once you can master the updo. Or the bun. The bun is very cute, too! To check out the different looks you can get with a Knot Head, check out the gallery here.
