Speckled Up

 

From everything I know about me, these new Illamasqua Speckled Nail Varnishes do not seem like something I would like.  And yet, I'm coveting them so much that I've made THREE separate trips to the Sephora in Santa Monica to buy them and they NEVER have them.  (They might have them now.  The last time I went was the weekend before last.  So I'm hoping they'll have them before this weekend and I can make the trek over there again).  There are five colors available, but the two I want the most are Scarce, a speckled pink (on the left) and Freckle, a speckled tan (on the right).  The other three shades are Speckle, a speckled lilac, Mottle, a speckled green, and Fragile, a speckled blue.  Don't they just look fun?  I feel like they're funky, but work appropriate, even for a corporate office.  They're $16, so not super cheap, but they're not going to break the bank either.  Has anyone else gotten their hands on these yet?  What'd you think?  I'm about to break down and just order them online...

Create The Perfect Shade

You guys, I am OBSESSED with Illamasqua's new Creator Nail Polish.  Obsessed!  Look at the color in the bottle and tell me you don't want to be wearing it right now as well.  See, you can't!  It's just so gorgeous and perfect for fall/winter. It's a black base with tiny silver glitter pieces in it and I've been wearing it nonstop since I picked it up about ten days ago.  I love that the black is a deep black and not like, a clear, semi-sheer black, because the deep shade makes the silver sparkles stand out even more.  It glows in the sun so gorgeously - I can't stop looking at my hands when I'm outside.  I kind of think of it as a new neutral because it's both work-appropriate (for most offices) and perfect for a night out.  I just love, love, love it - I'll be wearing this one for months to come.  (I should probably get a backup bottle, just in case, right?)  It's got a great formula too - I've been wearing it for over a week and it's still not chipping. Best of all, it's only $14, so not super hard to justify and well-worth the price.  I think I just answered my own backup bottle question...  

You're Making Me Blush

I've been wanting to try some of Illamasqua's products ever since I first saw them at Sephora and I finally got my hands on one of their Powder Blushers.  I can totally see why they're so popular.  Blush is one of those products I don't often focus on and in fact, sometimes forget to wear, but when I do get a good one and see the difference it makes, I always get motivated to wear it again for awhile until I get lazy again.  (It's a vicious makeup cycle).  There are a huge variety of shades to choose from - 15 total - and I tested out Panic, which is described as a cherry red.  It's highly pigmented, so it took me a few times to get the hang of applying it with a light touch (my first try made me look slightly, shall we say, Ronald McDonald-ish).  But once I mastered the application, I was really impressed.  The color payoff was great and it lasted for a long time (I could still see the color on my cheeks at 4pm, which rarely happens to me with blushes).  I really want to try some of the more natural daytime shades now, since Panic is something I would normally wear more at night.  And just like that, I'm excited about blush again...
