Four New Drugstore Finds!

If I haven't made it clear before, I'm on a new quest to find drugstore items that can replace my expensive department store purchases.  With the economy the way it is, my bank account has taken a massive hit and therefore, I have been forced to find some budget-friendly go-to products.  So my adventure continues and I am so happy to report I've found four awesome new products that I am in love with!

Aveeno has launched some incredible new facial products that make both your face and your wallet extremely happy.  I tried the Aveeno Ultra-Calming Moisturizing Cream Cleanser and it's fantastic.  It really gets my face clean, and leaves it so soft you would think I'd used a moisturizer.  It contains Feverfew which is a naturally calming ingredient related to Chamomile and it really works well on my sensitive skin.  Also, at only $6.99 for a big bottle, this is a definite keeper.

I have religiously been using Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Spray Gel and love the results.  This stuff makes my hair have such wave and it keeps the style all day.  When I first saw "spray gel," I thought of sticky and hard, but this product does the opposite.  My hair is not crunchy at all, it's actually soft and smells great (it smells lightly of violet). 

L'Oreal has totally hit a home run with their True Match foundation.  I am so impressed with the fact that it matches my skin tone perfectly (the chart at the drugstore actually works) and is sheer enough so I don't look like I'm wearing a painted mask, but yet covers my uneven skin tone.  It doesn't dry my skin and it's so cheap!  I mean, I was shelling out $40 on department store brands and this one is only $8.  Man, that means a lot more Coffee Bean Ice Blendeds for me.

Okay, I have to include another Aveeno product because I just love, love it.  Their Positively Ageless Warming Scrub is so wonderful that I can't stop raving about it to friends.  It is a very light scrub (not that feeling of ripping off a layer of your skin) which actually warms up the second it hits your skin (still have no clue how that magic happens).  Anyway, it leaves my skin feeling soft (not dry) and it's uber-cheap at only $7.  Totally worth an immediate trip to the store.

Even though the economy stinks, it doesn't mean I'm sacrificing my love for products. 

None Of Your Frizzness

I've never really used Herbal Essences products before, but when I landed in NJ and realized that I'd forgotten to pack all my hair products, I hit up the drugstore and (I have to admit) bought this leave in creme based solely on its name. It just made me laugh, and really, when you're standing in a ShopRite in central NJ during the Christmas shopping madness, that's all the recommendation you need. Plus, it cost something like $3.50, so I figured I had nothing to lose. I used it the whole time I was on the east coast and while it made my hair a little silkier, I wouldn't say that it eliminated all frizziness. It seemed like it acted more like a leave in conditioner than a frizz control, so for the price I paid I have no complaints, but if you're looking for something to tame your out of control frizz problem, I'd say you might want to look elsewhere. It was fine for when I was traveling, but I wasn't even tempted to try and fit it in my suitcase when I was leaving, and if you could see the way I pack, you'd know how meaningul that is. One other funny thing about this product is that it says that it contains extracts of mandarin balm and pearls. Okay, the mandarin I believe, but pearls? That seems a little far-fetched for a product that I found wedged on a shelf between Head and Shoulders and Alberto VO5. Next they'll be trying to get me to believe that my toothpaste has diamonds in it to make my teeth sparkle. Hhm, wait a second... That's not such a bad idea. Anyone have the number for Colgate?

Herbal Essences Shimmery Night Spray - Now for Strippers and Video Hos!

Herbal Essences Shimmery Night Spray with a fusion of diamond dust and champagne.  This spray was calling to me as I perused the shelves at Target.  Cute, new packaging for the entire Herbal Essences line meant cute, new hair for me.  The spray promises to give your hair a beautiful shimmer using the delicate fusion of diamond dust and champagne.  While the smell is very pretty and mild, the glitter is nothing of the sort.  The second I sprayed my coif, glitter took hold of everything near me.  Bathroom sink, floor, my shirt, my face and even my hands were doused with what I assume is diamond dust and champagne.  While I’m usually open to a nice dusting of champagne on my body, the glitter just made me look like a video ho.  If I had an Escalade and Hummer positioned behind me and was shaking my ass in a low-lying fog, you would’ve thought you turned on MTV2 (if you turned on MTV you would just see reality programming).  Anyways, I digress – the glitter sat so thick on my head and face from just one spritz that I closely resembled a human disco ball.  The glitter isn’t even subtle, small bits.  It’s full-on large craft-size glitter – the kind we used to adorn the back of our jean jackets with.  And it doesn’t just stay where you spray it.  As I type this, my keyboard is being inundated with glittery “diamond dust.”  If you are old enough to not need your parents to drop you off at the mall, save yourself the money and aggravation of glitter overload and steer clear of this stripper spray.
