Matte Envy

So I've been in love with L'Oreal's Infallible Paints since their first collection released months ago.  I loved the formula, bold color choices, and the drugstore accessibility.  So imagine my delight when I was sent the new Infallible Paints Matte shades, all different varieties of nude colors.  First of all, nude shades are my true love.  I wear a lot of reds and bright shades too, but on a normal, every day basis, nude shades are where it's at.  (Mainly because I can put them on without a mirror without fear of giving myself clown mouth, but also for the way they look).  There are six nude shades that range from super light to extremely dark (my favorite is Peach Pit, which is, as you might imagine, a gorgeous glowy peach that looks amazing with a dark, smoky eye.  The Paints are full coverage and they're my favorite sort of matte - the finish is definitely matte, but it's not so matte that it dries out your lips or shows all the lines in them (AKA the dreaded Old Lady Lips).  I also love the doefoot applicator on these - it makes it easy to apply in one fell swoop - so much more my preference than a brush. Plus, it gives you an excuse to go to CVS or Target to pick them up - and I think we all know how much I love a good drugstore or Target run.  Anything I can use to justify one is always welcome.  They're around $10 apiece, but heed my words of wisdom and wait for a sale because you can score the whole collection that way instead of having to make a hard choice between shades.  Matte away!

Bring In Da Heat

O. M. G., you guys.  I know it's a few weeks past when everyone got super excited about the palette, but I've been working a ton (hence the lack of posts!) and just busy, so I didn't get a chance to play with Urban Decay's Naked Heat palette as much I was dying to until last weekend.  And that's sad, because it is AMAZING.  I mean, not that you didn't know it would be just from looking at it, but seriously, if you have green eyes like me, this is your palette.  I love, love, love the color theme in this one.  Not that I don't love all the Naked palettes because, I mean, they're fabulous, but even I can get sick of browns, bronzes and rose-golds after awhile.  I also have to say - for shades that aren't crazy outrageous, they're not like any I already have in my vast stash.  They're sort of reddish orangey amber.  (That's a technical description!)  They make a fabulous smoky eye, but you can also get a perfect for day nude look out of this palette.  (Also, the two new Heat 24/7 Eyeliners (Torch and Alkaline) go great with this palette - Torch is a sienna shade and Alkaline is a deep wine color (which actually complements the shades in this palette more than you would think).  The shades themselves are gorgeous and make my green eyes stand out so much.  Like, so much that even other people noticed, which is kind of amazing.  The shadows are so soft, blend easily, and on me, lasted all day layered over UD's shadow primer.  They also match perfectly with the lipsticks in this collection, especially Heat, which I'm also obsessed with.  (Can you tell I'm into this collection?!) Basically it's all amazing and you need to run out and get it as soon as possible.  Get thee to a Sephora or an ULTA ASAP!

A Citrus Pick Me Up

Citrus is my favorite scent when I need energy or a little pick me up.  There's just something about the orange/grapefruit/lemon/lime kind of scents that make me happy.  You can't smell them and not instantly feel a little more clear-headed and mellow.  (Try it, I dare you!)  So when I got the chance to try Weleda's Citrus Refreshing Body Oil, I jumped at the opportunity to combine my favorite lemon fragrance with a moisturizing oil.  (Oils are the kind of moisturizer I use the least, mainly just because I haven't found many that I love).  Well consider that small list to have one more occupant on it.  I'm totally loving this one!  I take two showers a day (I know it's terrible for my skin) because I exercise after work, so I take a shower before I go to sleep (I don't know how anybody gets into bed dirty) and then when I wake up to get myself ready for the day.  (It also takes like, a gallon of coffee.  Did I mention I'm not a morning person?!) Once I've toweled off after my shower, I use a few drops of this on every part of my body that gets dry and I saw such a difference in a short time (I'd say about ten days or so).  The oil itself isn't greasy and absorbs fairly quickly, so it won't ruin your clothes if you give it a few minutes to sink in first.  What it does leave behind is soft, silky skin (I sound like an ad for a new kind of ladies razor!) with the lovely faint scent of fresh lemons.  It's the best kind of lemon scent too - it smells like a fruit grove on the coast of Italy - and it just makes me so happy.  At $21.50, it's an affordable way to moisturize and get yourself the perfect summer fragrance lingering on your skin. Consider me a body oil convert!
