With summer finally here, it's time to re-evaluate our skin protection routines (especially because the summer always brings new products - an excuse to try something else!) This year, Neutrogena has released an amazing line of suncare products, which I know most people have seen in stores and probably laughed at the insanely high SPF. Well, being of English/Scottish/Paleness descent, I was screaming with utter delight when I saw Spectrum+ in 70 and 100 SPF! I am the chick who burns walking to her mailbox and never tans, so I fully embrace any product that can protect my skin (plus, how hot am I gonna look at 60 because I've been so diligent with my sunblock? Okay, maybe that's a stretch but whatever) Spectrum+ contains Helioplex360 which provides superior full spectrum UVA/UVB protection that helps prevent deep oxidative damage. Neutrogena and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) actually conducted a survey which proves that Americans are not following dermatologists recommendations and being that I am SO scared of skin cancer so always wear sunblock, I had to share.
- 94% of Americans know that prolonged exposure to the sun can cause skin damage and even skin cancer, yet only 1 in 5 people (20%) wear sunscreen on a daily basis
- 33% of Americans don’t think it’s necessary to wear sunscreen every day
- 1 in 2 dermatologists (51%) report that their patients only seek information on their skin when they think something is wrong
- Nearly all dermatologists (93%) note that skin cancer most often develops on the face, more than any other place on the body. That is likely why 100% of dermatologists recommend their patients put sunscreen on their face daily or whenever they are going to be exposed to the sun.
I am happy to say that I am always really diligent about my sunblock, but I hate creams that are too thick (which may be the reason more people don't wear something on their face especially?) When I saw the extremely high SPF in Spectrum+, I thought it would fall into the category of products that are way too heavy, but I was very wrong. This stuff sinks into skin immediately without an offensive odor and really does work. I was outside all day today and didn't burn at all! You have no idea what a monumental occasion this is. I have found my new go-to sunblocks. Thank you, Neutrogena, for being so brilliant.
Note: A sample of this product was sent to me by a PR representative working with Neutrogena
