So until last year, I had no idea that I even had sensitive skin. I guess it makes sense and my skin definitely looks a lot better since I started using products for that kind of skin type, but I'm kind of amused that with all my magazine reading and product buying, it never occurred to me that my skin was anything but normal. (This is where my dad would make some stupid joke about nothing about me being normal if he was writing this, by the way). I'm also a freak about wearing sunscreen every day, so I was really happy to learn that Patricia Wexler had come out with a new Sensitive Skin Calming Anti-Aging Moisturizer SPF 30. It promises to:
- hydrate, neutralize signs of redness and even skin tone
- protect skin from sun damage and environmental aggressors
- formulated for & tested on sensitive skin
I've been using it for a few weeks now and so far, so good. What I like about it is that it's a really light consistency and it absorbs into my skin really quickly, so it's a great daytime moisturizer for under makeup. It also doesn't have an overwhelming smell to it, which is my pet peeve in a facial moisturizer. Is there anyone who likes that? I also love that it has an SPF 30 - the higher the better and a lot of my usual moisturizers only have an SPF 20 in them, which is decent, but doesn't really stand up to the Los Angeles sun as much as I'd like. (I'm determined to look younger than my sister when we're senior citizens). I haven't been using it long enough to know if I'm going to be able to see a reduction in lines and wrinkles (which I actually don't have much of yet anyway, thank God) but I definitely think I see the calming effect of it because my skin seems less red when I look in the mirror. It's also a pretty good value - $39.50 for 1.7 ounces, but since you can get it at Bath & Body Works, there are always coupons you can use for either money off or a free product with purchase. (Seriously, what did we all do before Bath & Body Works. I shudder at the thought).
If you have a sensitive skin, you must take care of your skin much more than before.
