Even in the winter, I like fresh and clean scents, but when the weather gets warm again, I can't get enough of them. I can't stand spritzing something heavy and potent on myself when it's 90 degrees outside. It just doesn't feel right. That's why Marc Jacobs Splash scents are my summer obsession. The scents that he offers change often, but right now my absolute fav, Rain, is available. It's gorgeous - with notes of Wet Cut Grass, Wild Strawberry, Tropical Rain Accord and Sunshine Flower (among others) it really does smell like the air after a big storm. I bought it a few years back when I first smelled it and have used it constantly since. (For awhile there, it wasn't being sold anywhere and I guarded what I had left like it was gold, even hiding it when my sister came over because she likes to test out my perfumes and I didn't want to waste even one spritz. That's just sad). But now Rain is back, along with two other Limited-Edition scents, Lemon and Cucumber. It's hard to top Rain for me, but the other ones are both great, too. Lemon is really crisp and citrusy (obviously) and you can definitely smell the Verbena note in it - it's tailor made for summer days and a cute little dress. Cucumber was an unexpected love for me. Before I smelled it, I was sort of wondering who on earth would want to willingly make themselves smell like a vegetable. (I mean, chocolate cake I get, but vegetables? No). But then I spritzed it on my wrist and fell instantly into fragrance love. With notes of Cucumber, Lotus Leaf, Cactus Flower, Linden Blossom, Tiger Lily, Freesia, Frosted Musk, Blonde Woods, Sephora says that it's "crisp, green [and] fresh" and that's the perfect way to describe it. It's so pretty and oddly, feminine. (I get more men asking me what I'm wearing when I have this on than any other perfume I own. Weird, right?)
The Splashes all come in huge 10 ounce bottles of Eau de Toilette for $68, which is a great value. (Because it's an Eau de Toilette, it doesn't last as long as a more concentrated formula would, but I feel like I get so much product for my money, that really doesn't bother me. I just spritz more on once it fades!) If you're looking for a great summer scent, you can't go wrong with any of these.
