I used to be kind of a hair care snob - unless my shampoo and conditioner cost more than the GNP of a small country and came from a fancy salon whose name I couldn't pronounce, I didn't think it was good enough. That was before our current recession/depression (or whatever MSNBC is calling it this week) kicked in and I got WAY more responsible about my product shopping. I'm all about the drugstore brands these days and my current favorite is L'Oreal's new EverPure line. There are three different collections in the line - Smooth, Moisture, and Volume. They all smell like Rosemary Mint, which was my first indication that I was going to like the products because I LOVE anything that smells like mint. I've never smelled the Rosemary Mint combo before, but it's kind of awesome - it's fresh and sort of spicy and definitely worthy of my morning shower.
EverPure is a color care line that's sulfate-free, so it won't strip or dull your hair at all. It also has both UVA and UVB filters that will help protect your hair from UV rays. Both of those things are so important - between the California sun and washing my hair at least once (and some of the time, twice) a day, my color fading is a huge concern of mine. (Besides the fact that it looks terrible, it's twice as expensive since I end up having to go to the salon more often. Not cool. I'd rather spend that money on shoes. Or makeup. Or, you know, shoes AND makeup). I tried the Moisture line and love the shampoo and conditoner. They leave my hair feeling soft and clean and I like that they don't weigh it down like some of the other drugstore brands I've tried. I also tested out the Smooth Deep Control Masque, which is a great deep conditioning treatment if your hair is a little on the dry side. My favorite product from the line though is the Smooth Frizz-Free Serum. I put it on my hair after I blow dry and it makes it super shiny and smooth (my hair is straight) all day. I'm a little wary of styling products sometimes because I'm always afraid that they'll make my hair look greasy, but the serum totally doesn't.
The best part of the line though? The fact that the products range from $6.99 to $8.99 (and probably even cheaper if the store is having a sale). You and your great looking hair can use the money you're saving to buy shoes. Or makeup. Or shoes AND makeup!
