Even though I haven't been the hugest fan of the Pop Beauty Eye Cakes in the past and vowed not to buy them anymore (because of how the shadows are placed in stripes in the container, making it hard to use only one shade at a time), I still check out their new colors when I pass the display because I'm just conditioned that way. (Sad, I know). So I was kind of torn the last time I walked by and noticed a new set of colors that I really liked because I knew that meant I was going to be tempted to break my vow. Imagine my surprise when I did a closer inspection and found out that what looked like an Eye Cake is actually a new product - a Liner Cake called Darkness. Genius! This changes everything. As shadows, the stripes are hard to use, but as liners that you dip your thin eyeliner brush into, they're perfection. I was able to use them all individually with no problem at all. The colors are great too, really deep, strong shades with a lasting shimmer that sparkles just enough to highlight your eyes and not enough to make people think you just came from an all night rave. And it's a nice price too - for only $19, you get five different shades of eyeliner that can be mixed and matched. (I personally like the Gunmetal and Velvet Plum together). I swear, every time I actually manage to give up on a certain product, the company manages to make a change that drags me back in. It's like they know! (Cue spooky, Twilight Zone music). Damn you, beauty industry. Get out of my head!
