I've been coveting a Marc Jacobs bag for oh, going on six years now. I just love everything about them. The leather, the stitching, the distinctive push-lock closures... Unfortunately, their cheapest bag is somewhere around $700, so I won't be owning one of them anytime soon. So for now, I'm contenting myself with the new limited edition Splash fragrances that he recently introduced. Currently, they're available in Rain, Ivy, Cucumber and Orange, but Rain and Orange are my favorites. Rain smells fresh and clean, like the air after a storm, and orange smells fruity but not overpowering, so people won't wonder if your juicer exploded on you. And the bottles are HUGE - 10 ounces for only $65, although that's probably because it's a Eau de Toilette, not a perfume. Still, I found that the scent lingered a decent amount of time and I figure at the very least, its sheerness will probably save me from a few mosquito bites, since I think bugs tend to go after heavily scented people. (I'm basing this on nothing scientific, by the way). But if you like them, make sure you act quickly because they're not kidding when they say limited edition. Marc (I've lusted after his bags for so long, I figure we're on a first name basis) came out with some other Splash scents earlier this year and I loved Cotton when I smelled it, but when I went back to get it (a scant week later!) it was already gone, never to reappear. I hate it when that happens. Especially because I figure if I can't walk around with one of Marc's totes slung casually over my shoulder, I deserve to smell like any damn Splash I can get my hands on. Oh, the sacrifices I make to pay my rent...
