Every time I get my hair cut, my hair looks fantastically fabulous for about a day. Then, the next day when I attempt to re-create the blowout, something goes horribly wrong. I always manage to make my hair look ridiculously flat and almost appear dirty – who knew I had that capability to achieve that considering I wash my hair every day! Anyways, no one really needs to know my bathing routine. My point was, I usually end up all frustrated and my beautiful cut is wasted as I pull my hair into a desperate ponytail. I am happy to report, however, that I have finally found a product that actually helps me re-create the perfect hair day. Dirt Texturizing Paste by Jonathan (yeah, the dude from “Blowout”) is such a wonderful product. I have to say, I have rarely found a texturizer that is this non-greasy and non-sticky. Apparently it’s a water-based product that has been infused with lemongrass essential water (who knew there was such a thing). And, despite its name, Dirt does not in fact smell like dirt. I, for one, have passed out drunk in my fair share of dirt piles and this stuff smells way better. It actually smells of almond which is amazing. Also, the smell lasts all day, so you’ll be smelling your own hair repeatedly (hey, better you than some creepy guy). It really holds the style and manages to make my hair look piecey, but not at all dirty. Also, as a bonus, Dirt has a UV filter in it to help prevent color fading. It’s especially great because the only thing worse than wasting a new haircut is causing early color fade. Dirt is kind of expensive, but you won’t use a lot each time, so it will last for a while. Take that hair stylists - trying to be all sneaky with your excellent blowouts. We have taken the power of style into our own hands at home. Now, if only I could figure out how to color my hair without staining my sink and clothes.
