You know those people who jump out of bed every morning, excited to start another day? Yeah, that’s so not me. I hate waking up early for any reason. And I especially hate waking up earlier than I have to just to make sure that I have enough time to blow dry my long hair before work. So when this new hair dryer came out promising to cut my drying time drastically while keeping my hair healthy and shiny, I couldn’t wait to own it. I was at Sephora the day it went on the market, only to find out that it was $200. I just couldn’t do it. Even I draw the line at paying that much for something cosmetic, which is kind of ironic because I easily own $1000 worth of lipsticks. (Somehow it seems much more justifiable when it only costs around $15 at a time, you know?)
Luckily, a few short weeks later, I found out they have a travel size version that costs $130, which is still kind of steep unless you have a COUPON! Wow, do I love me some coupons. So I sucked it up and bought the smaller version, which turned out to be a great idea because now I can easily travel with it to the exotic places I go, namely, New Jersey.
Now that I have this, I can’t imagine going back. It takes me less than half the time it used to to blow dry my hair and that means more time between the sheets for me. (Sadly, I’m alone, but it’s still worth it). There’s a lot of gibberish about negative ions and infrared heat on the Sephora website and I won’t even pretend I understand it all, but my hair looks a lot thicker and shinier since I bought it, and that’s good enough for me. My hair has never been frizzy, so I can’t say it eliminated that like it promises, but based on everything else I’ve noticed since I bought it, I tend to believe T3’s sales pitch. So yeah, it’s super expensive, but if you blow dry your hair a lot or have long hair like me (and can find a coupon), it’s well worth the investment.
The only drawback to this so far is that now when I pack my suitcase for a trip, I spend an extra ten minutes making sure the hair dryer is well hidden and extra cushioned because if I got to baggage claim and it was broken (or worse) missing, I would cry because replacing it would be so expensive. Although after seeing a woman being forced to throw out her entire makeup bag FULL OF LAURA MERCIER PRODUCTS at Heathrow airport on the news last week, I’m just going to thank my lucky stars that I can still travel with makeup on my domestic flight next week because if I have to give up my lip gloss, the terrorists will have already won.
