No matter how many times I try, I just can’t master the art of the smoky eye. All the magazines make it look so easy, but I usually just end up looking like I walked into a door or went 10 rounds with Mike Tyson. So when I saw Stila’s smudge pots, which promise to make it simple to recreate, I couldn’t throw one in my Sephora basket fast enough.
I was a little skeptical, but these turned out to be my new favorite eye makeup. They’re little pots of color and come in seven shades – Black, brown, grey, plum, emerald, navy and new for the summer – copper. You can use an eyeliner brush to apply or your fingers to just smudge (ha!) them on. They’re not too thick, so it’s easy not to overdo the color, but you can layer them for more intensity. And at $16 for each pot, they’re affordable, always a consideration with Stila, which I sometimes find over-priced. And because they’re a gel, I found that they lasted longer than my normal eye makeup, which made them totally worth it.
On a side note, I think I have a girl crush on the owner of this company, Jeanine Lobell. She gets to have her own makeup line and be married to Goose. What more could a girl ask for? You know, besides George Clooney, too.
