As much as I love big chain stores like Sephora (and I do - I really, really do), it's nice to discover smaller, independent brands as well. I love the idea that someone sitting at home could come up with an idea for a makeup product and actually take the initiative to get it made. (Occasionally, I get all fired up about doing that too, but then "Lipstick Jungle" comes on or I get the new People in the mail and I end up getting sidetracked). Vintage Sister is a company out of Illinois that makes lips balms in a vast array of flavors. The balms are adorable - they each come in a little sliding tin with a different girl on the cover. How cute is that? I like that they're not all exactly the same because really, the girl who's going to wear Bubble Gum is probably very different from the one who's going to put on Chardonnay, so shouldn't the picture be as well? The balms (they come in either a Lip Indulgence or Lip Lickers formula) are all moisturizing and contain natural ingredients to keep your lips soft. There are too many flavors to list here, but my favorites include Caramel and Orange Dream. (Yes, I have a sweet tooth. Why do you ask?) I'm also dying to try the P.B. & J just because I've never seen a lip balm that flavor before and it intrigues me. The best part about these balms is that they're super cheap (only $3.95 each), so you can order as many as you'd like without going over your budget. And I love the way they'll allow you to customize the tins so you can use them as wedding favors. I am totally doing that when I get married. Consider yourself warned, Future Husband!
