When I was searching for a perfume to buy for my mom at Christmas, I meandered on over to the Trish McEvoy counter to smell some of her scents. There are a few that I really like, but the one that I absolutely adore is #9 (they're all numbered, which conveniently makes it easy to put on a Christmas or birthday wish list) Blackberry and Vanilla Musk. The funny thing about me liking it so much is that it has the word "musk" in the title. Musk! That word reminds me of hippies and camping outdoors and women who don't shave under their arms, whereas I'm more of the buy overpriced jeans, stay at The Four Seasons and shower twice a day kind of girl. So to say that I never pictured myself wearing a musk is an understatement. But for some reason, this scent just works on me. It smells almost exactly like you'd think it would - you can definitely catch a whiff of the vanilla and the blackberry, but it's undercut by the musky notes, which stops it from being too sickeningly sweet. And I'm not really sure if it's because it's a musk, since I've (happily) never purchased one before, but the scent really lasts. When I spritz it on in the morning, I can still smell it that night. So either I'm a huge over-sprayer and my friends are all just holding their breath and not telling me, or it's a worthwhile investment for those of you who like your scents to linger. It's not cheap - $72 for 1.7 ounces, but since it costs me $55 to fill my gas tank every week now, I figure spending an extra $17 for something that makes me so happy is totally worth it. (Yes, I can justify anything). Who knew I was such a musky girl at heart?
