The Art Of Hair

shu uemura's Art of Hair is a classic line of styling products formulated with the purest natural ingredients that lets you prep and style your hair effortlessly.  I got the chance to test out out two of the products and they left my hair looking about as close to supermodel perfection as my long, straight locks are ever going to get.  First, I spritzed on the Depsea Moisture Foundation - it's a prep for hair that gives it moisture and light conditioning, while detangling and improving manageability.  (I like to think of it as the grown up version of No More Tangles).  I'm a big fan of sprays like these because my long hair can get super knotty if I'm not careful, and this is one of the best ones I've used.  I also like that it didn't weigh my hair down or make it greasy - both side effects I can do without.  When I was done blowdrying, I finished off my look by using the Silk Oil Camellia Smoothing Fluid.  You can use this on towel-dried hair for control and protection during styling, or you can use it on dry hair as a weightless finishing gloss, which is what I did.  It left my hair shiny and smooth and just (for lack of a better word) prettier.  (Finishing glosses fall under that category of products I always forget to use and then when I do, I'm like, "Why don't you always use this?  It's so much better!")

Trust Your Instinct

For fall, shu uemura's new collection Instinct is what they describe as "an arousing collection of deep color veils and lush texture to reveal the evocative allure of every woman."  Sounds gorgeous, right?  I have yet to see it in person, but I kind of can't wait because based on the pictures, I seriously need to own most of it.  (It's all limited edition!  I have to buy it before it goes away!)  Eyes are done in smoky colors, with the face given a rosy flush.  Lips are vivid and shiny, and the Luring Powder highlights skin to give you a natural glow.  Here are the full details of the collection:

I love all the Duo Eyeshadows way, way too much to pick a favorite - I seriously covet every single one of them.  Plus, having a cream shade and a powder shade in one compact is great - it gives you way more options when you're playing around with the colors.  I'm also intrigued by the Crimson Dazzle lip color.  A girl can never have too many red lipsticks!

You Don't Look A Day Over 21

In June of 1983, Shu Uemura opened the first Beauty Boutique in Tokyo's Omotesando district.  To celebrate the occasion, every year a limited edition collection of the most "festive" beauty products of the season is created to remember that special day.  This year, the collection is named HANA-BI, which means "fireworks," and was done to celebrate the season full of energy, excitement and festivals.  It was inspired by three elements of nature: terre (earth), rose (flower) and source (water).  The collection includes three fragrances of 100% natural origin that are each formulated with Depsea water and matching color palettes that are meant to capture the essence of each fragrance.
