I really love Maybelline's Baby Lips Lip Balm - so much so that I own all the colors (even multiples of a few!) So I really, really wanted to love their new Baby Lips Lip Gloss. I seriously stalked my local drug stores for weeks waiting to see the display and when I finally saw one that had them in stock, I couldn't buy them fast enough. (At my CVS, they were only $4.50 each and I had some Extra Rewards free money to spend, so I grabbed four shades). I was so excited to get home and try them. And then... eh. Here's the thing - as a gloss, they're pretty decent. They're not crazy sticky and they seem to moisturize fine, although I wouldn't call them long-lasting by any means. But for the price, they do the job totally fine. But I tried four different shades and all of them gave me just a tiny tiny of color, in some cases so tiny, it just seemed like a clear gloss. It's totally my pet peeve when a gloss that looks really pigmented in the tube (AND IN THE ADS!) is super sheer and I really forgot how stabby it makes me when that happens. It's just annoying! If I wanted a clear gloss, I'd buy a clear gloss! But I didn't - I bought your gloss because IT PROMISED COLOR. (End rant). So needless to say, these sort of made me mad, although for the price, they're definitely fine as glosses, as long as you don't expect much (or any) color from them. Sorry, Maybelline. I'm sticking to the Baby Lips Lip Balms from now on.
