I wear a lot of neutral eyeshadows, especially during the day to work, so it's nice to bust out of the neutral barrel once in awhile and put on some brighter shades. MAKE UP FOR EVER's Technicolor Palette has eight shades in it and is a nice mix of colors that will make your eyes really pop, plus some neutrals to tone down the brightness. It's a nice palette to experiment with because you can do the brights, but also give yourself a softer look with the two shadows on the right. I do admit that I can't figure out how on earth to use the yellow shade without looking like I have jaundice, but I've been playing around with it and I'm determined to use it in some way... sometime. Even if it's at Halloween! I do love the lime green and the bright blue - they're fun to use as accent shades - and the lilac looks really good with my green eyes. Lots of fun shades in this one. Well worth picking up!

You guys, this is the coolest thing I've heard about in a long time! Starting on February 1st and continuing through mid-April, MAKE UP FOR EVER is taking their Make Up School on the road. The bus you see above will be traveling to nine different cities doing something that no makeup brand has ever done before - inviting customers to bring in their makeup bags and the MAKE UP FOR EVER experts will teach them how to use their products, even if the products aren't from MAKE UP FOR EVER. I mean, how great is that? That's one of the reasons I never do these kind of things - my makeup bag has so many different brands in it that I can't really go to any one counter, but this event makes that possible. Their goal is to teach women how to actually do their own makeup and use what they already own, which is fantastic. In addition, they've partnered with Christina Ricci, who will be creating a special makeup bag for the tour, which'll be available to buy at all the stops on the tour, and later at Sephora.com. To book your own appointment, just visit MAKE UP FOR EVER's site here and click on the MAKE UP BAG REMIX tab. If you go, have fun!
I'm not usually into powder foundations because I swear they usually highlight all my imperfections and cake into my fine lines. So, when I tried Make Up For Ever's new Pro Finish Powder Foundation I was super surprised - I loved it! First of all, it goes on so smooth, you can apply wet or dry and it covers beautifully without caking! It comes in 25 shades so there's definitely one for everyone - even those of us with super-pale hard-to-match skintones. I also adore how it's compact so you can carry it in your bag for on-the-go touch-ups. This foundation is an absolute keeper and the best of the bunch when it comes to powder! Definitely, definitely give it a try. Retails for $36.00 at Sephora and Make Up For Ever Boutiques.

Okay, now that Thanksgiving is upon us and 103.5FM here in LA has started playing non-stop Christmas music, I've decided it's time for me to get going on that shopping! While the guys in my life is difficult to buy for, I've already started brainstorming some killer gifts from my female friends and family members. When I saw Make Up For Ever released their amazing Aqua Eyes Liners in an exclusive Sephora giftset for only 36.00, I was sold! I couldn't imagine giving anything else to my liner-obsessed girlfriend who has been on a mission for as long as I can remember to find a smudge-proof liner that was actually soft enough to glide on. Well, she will love me forever when she unwraps this set - the liners are smooth, last the better part of the day and come in 6 great colors. One gift down, a ton to go...

Okay, Make Up For Ever, I was super excited to check out your new Spring collection and you did not disappoint! La Boheme embraces the romantic, carefree spirit of the 1970s but, I think, with a very modern twist - extra glitz. The Eye Shadow Palette features 6 baked shadows - four glittery and two pearlescent - and all surprisingly subtle despite their vibrant exterior. I love how silky smooth the shadows are and adore the mix of shades (Lagoon Green, Vegetal Green, Beige, Parma Purple, Brown and Coral). Lagoon Green (a bright aqua which makes me think of gorgeous sparkling water in Australia) and Coral are my favorites and pair together for a gorgeous day or evening look. The packaging is stunning (almost looks like a patchwork quilted cardboard box) and the price is right on ($39.00). La Boheme Collection also features two new lip colors which are so ultra-creamy you won't want to use another lipstick ever. Positive - both shades are beautiful (Folk is a peachy-beige and Boheme is an iridescent coral). Negative - they only released the two shades (too bad because I would buy them all, I swear). Last part of the new collection is the Aqua Eyes liner (which we all already are obsessed with) in a new shade - La Boheme which is a rich, deep brown (doesn't sound that exciting but it's really pretty and pairs well with the palette). Collection is available now at Make Up For Ever Boutiques and online at Sephora.com.

I'm all about eyeliner right now. (Okay, fine, I've been all about eyeliner for about six months now, but who's keeping track?) Now that I've finally achieved my goal of owning every Urban Decay 24/7 liner (I know I should be embarrassed about that, but I'm just... not) I'm moving on to MAKE UP FOR EVER's Aqua Eyes because they're equally as awesome. If you're new to them, a good way to start is with this Wild & Chic Aqua Eyes Collection that's out for the holidays. In it, you'll get a full-sized liner in Mat Black 0L and then 5 travel-size colors - Dark Grey 21L (a dark metallic grey), Iridescent Navy Blue 3L (a navy blue sheen), Blue With Green Highlights 12L (a metallic teal blue), Pearly Brown 2L (a golden brown sheen) and Purple 11L (a metallic purple). They're all highly pigmented and vibrant and you can use them as liners or smudge the color around your eyes so they're more like shadow. They're waterproof and virtually smudge proof and they last forever on so they're perfect for long days (New Years Eve, maybe?) Also, there are 25 different shades, so I can make acquiring them all my new project for 2012. It's good to have goals, right?

Two weeks ago I was lucky enough to attend IMATS in Pasadena and got the unbelievable chance to actually meet Dany Sanz, the creator of Make Up For Ever (one of my all-time favorite brands!) From the very moment I saw her sitting in the folding chair, in her awesome wedges, surrounded by displays of her incredible products, I was completely enamored. She has this beautiful fiery red hair, is dressed in casual yet gorgeous clothing, and when she smiles you instantly feel at ease (and for a moment forget you're actually chatting with a true visionary and definite celebrity). She was set to go on the main stage at the IMATS convention on Friday evening to give a fantastic presentation on make-up artistry, but wasn't stressed in the least and calmly sat with me while I asked her a few questions. I am so excited to be able to share some information about Ms. Sanz with you all! So, if you didn't know she lives in Paris and actually opened her first store there (which she still operates). When I asked her about how she got started she gave me a huge smile and told me that she actually came from a modest upbringing but always was an artist. Her passion for sculpting and painting perfectly complimented her love for cosmetics and she developed her first formulas right in her own kitchen. She told me that she actually had little boxes where she would handwrite the product name on them before giving to people. Of course I had to know if she kept those boxes as a memento and she told me that she still has them to remind her how far she's come. When I asked about her first boutique in Paris, she told me that it's small but it's home to her and it will always continue to operate because it's where she started it all. It was actually her students who encouraged her to take her vision out of her kitchen and into a storefront. For someone who has built a strong cosmetics brand and has opened makeup academies all over the world, Dany Sanz is incredibly down-to-earth and ridiculously sweet. I thought it was interesting that her first creation was actually eyeshadow #4 (matte black) but then when I asked her if she could only own and wear one product what would it be? Without hesitation she responded with "black eyeliner." So, really, creating black eyeshadow as a first product seems to fit right in line. After taking the time to chat with me, she calmly went up on the stage and started her presentation on make-up artistry (pic above) which was stunning and was like watching a modern-day Picasso at work. You know, if Picasso had been a beautiful woman with a successful cosmetics line and a real passion for products.
As if I didn't already want to go go to St. Tropez enough, I just got this info in my inbox.
MAKE UP FOR EVER is thrilled to announce the opening of the brand’s first-ever pop-up boutique in Saint-Tropez, France for summer 2011. Located in the heart of the French Riviera, Saint-Tropez is a most glamorous destination where international elite gather to see and be seen each summer. MAKE UP FOR EVER boasts one of the most extensive waterproof, sweat-proof and melt-proof product assortments for the complexion, eyes, lips and cheeks – which is essential to looking your best whether sunning on the beach or attending the season’s many high profile events.
The new boutique is situated in the heart of the marina, steps away from the city’s trendiest shops and restaurants. It is approximately 400 square feet and will house 900 of MAKE UP FOR EVER’s most beach worthy products, including the entire Aqua range and water resistant Face & Body Liquid Make Up collection. The Boutique will be staffed by dedicated MAKE UP FOR EVER artists from around the world who will be on hand for product consultations and make up applications, both in the boutique as well as in the privacy and comfort of clients’ hotel rooms and villas.
How fun does that sound? I would totally pass up the beach for awhile to hang out in there and play with all the makeup in a much more glamorous location than my local Sephora. If only I had more airlines miles to cash in...
Make Up For Ever has released yet another amazing, innovative, product that everyone needs to add to their collection! The new Aqua Liner comes in 15 gorgeous shades, in three different finishes (matte, iridescent and diamond) and all of them are so wearable. I love how easy this liner is to use (seriously, my liner has never looked better) and it is super-waterproof so definitely no running throughout the day. My favorite shade is Diamond Multicolor Black which is a light black with little tiny glitter flecks in it - stunning on the eyes. I am able to apply a very precise line, or even make the line a bit thicker for more drama (the good kind, not the kind my workplace creates). But don't just take my word for it, head over to Sephora and do some testing for yourself.

Our friends at Make Up For Ever have just launched yet another amazing product (no huge shocker considering I'm crazy for everything they make)! Uplight is an incredibly lightweight gel highlighter you can mix into your foundation for an all-over glow or can be applied to cheekbones, eyelids or anyplace else that could use a lovely sheen. I am absolutely blown-away by this one. First of all, very typical to MUFE they have released a few different sheens (dewy, pearly and sparkling) and have eight different shades so every single person can find something that suits their skintone. I am loving #32 - Sparkling Golden Pink - which makes my very pale skin actually appear warmer and definitely glowing. I love mixing a bit into my regular foundation, but especially love using it as a highlighter to accentuate my cheekbones. Uplight is very light on the skin (because of it being 70% water, it really does melt into skin), not sticky at all, and blends in perfectly. It's absolutely a must-have product for everyone and trust me, you won't want just one shade! I've already trekked out to pick up another because I love this stuff so much. If you must know, I had to add #31 - Sparkling Blue Pink - to my collection (the perfect, sparkly pink shade).
