Every time I look at this Laurence Dumont Vanille Blueberry perfume sitting on my dresser, I remember buying it in Paris and how happy it made me. And then I remember that the reason I actually bought it in Europe and dragged it all the way from Paris to London to NJ to Los Angeles is because the saleswoman told me it was a brand exclusive to France and I would be unable to get it anywhere else. So I happily paid my 40 Euros and declared it on my customs form, only to come back to the United States and see the very same bottle of perfume at my Sephora for $23. Yes, I said $23. And I think the sign of a true Product Whore is that I was annoyed, but that quickly went away when I realized that I could now buy this scent any time I wanted. Honestly, I'm totally confused by the fact that it's so cheap because the bottle's a good size and I love the scent. It's fruity and comforting and unique, and the vanilla lingers in the air. I've gotten a lot of compliments every time I wear it and that's my true test. (Unless it's from creepy old men. Then I give the bottle to my sister). It smells amazingly similar to another perfume I love, Trish McEvoy's Blackberry and Vanilla Musk. It makes sense since the names are practically the same, but you can buy three bottles of the Laurence Dumont version for the price of one of Trish's. I can't find anything about the Eau du Parfum that would justify the cheap price, so I'm thinking that maybe Laurence Dumont is like a Target brand abroad. Perhaps it's the Old Spice of Paris? Either way, we all know how much I love a good trip to Target, so we'll just pretend that's the reason I own two bottles of this and am planning to try some of the other (equally inexpensive) scents Laurence makes. Besides, I figure saving money on any french product sort of makes up for the fact that they got away with charging me $8 for every diet coke I ordered the last time I was there. Viva la revenge!
