Get Your Licks In

I love lip glosses, but my favorites usually end up being the ones that taste dessert-like.  So you can imagine that I was all over the new ChocohoLICKS set from Jane Iredale.  It has four chocolate truffle lip glosses that all smell (and taste!) delicious and the packaging is totally adorable.  The flavors include:

• Truffle - decadent double chocolate
• Chocolate Orange - deep, dark chocolate and zingy orange
• Strawberry Cream - luscious berries dipped in chocolate
• Caramel - sensuous, buttery sweetness

They're all made with 100% natural ingredients and are super moisturizing, which is really what you need in a gloss.  The only down side is that the set is kind of expensive at $44, so it's a little hard to justify.  On the plus side, if you buy it on Beauty.com and spend another $6 on Jane Iredale products, you'll get a free PureGloss, so that makes it a little better.  And really, who can resist a little chocolate?

Pure Gold

Now that summer is coming, I'm starting my yearly quest to find the perfect bronzer for the days I'm too lazy to use self-tanner.  After hearing so many raves reviews of Jane Iredale's Moonglow Bronzer, I decided to give that one a shot and I have to say, I'm kinda loving it.  First of all, it looks great in the container, with the four different shades that you can swirl together or use separately.  It just looks prettier than most bronzers that are all one shade (and I'm a sucker for a product that looks pretty and does its job well).  I also like that it's a regular size.  I love bronzers that come in oversized compacts (more product!), but that also makes them practically impossible to carry with you and I really like to have the option to take my makeup wherever I go.  The bronzer itself gives me a healthy overall color with a slight shimmer, which comes from the 24-Karat food grade gold flakes that it contains (that's one way to get myself some gold!)  The other thing I really like about it is that the four different colors aren't only meant to be used as a bronzer, they can also be used on lips, cheeks, eyes - wherever you want really - because Jane Iredale products don't contain any dyes or irritants (I seriously didn't know this was important and now I'm wondering how many bad things I've put on my eyes in the past because I like to use bronzer colors as shadow sometimes).  At $46, it's not exactly an impulse buy, but the fact that it can be used anywhere makes that price a little more manageable.  Besides, what girl couldn't use a little more gold in her life?  None that I know.

I have Charisma

I have been on a major blush kick lately.  I don't know what's come over me, but I realized last night that I have an entire shelf devoted entirely to cheek color.  While my shelf houses all different colors and forms of blushes, I am right now consistently reaching for Jane Iredale's In Touch Cream Blush in Charisma.  This lovely berry shade glides on smooth and blends in easily, leaving a very natural flush to cheeks.  The real highlight for me is it smells (and they say tastes, but I haven't made that jump yet) exactly like chocolate.  There is nothing more delightful than rubbing chocolate blush on your face first thing in the morning.  The stick comes in three different shades and all can be used on lips as well.  Because the formula is hydrating, cheeks won't be left dry or tight and lips will be moisturized.  Who knew using a blush stick could be such an exciting experience?

Slippery When Not Wet

I had always heard such amazing things about Jane Iredale cosmetics, so when I saw the line at my local beauty supply store, I just had to try something.  I bought the Lid Primer in Canvas and was so sadly disappointed.  While the stuff is incredibly smooth to the touch and glides on easily, it made my eyeshadow crease so badly I was having to fix it in just a few short hours.  I was so sad because it felt so smooth on my lids, I thought for sure it was going to work.  I even tried it alone the other day and it still creased.  I can imagine on oily lids it would become slippery almost instantly, making it completely not worth the $18.00 price tag.  Even though it leaves a great shine, you're better off applying a base by Laura Mercier which has real staying power and using Kitten by Stila for a sexy, subtle shine in the corners of your eyes and on your browline.  It would leave the same color effect, but without the nasty old lady crease in your eyelid.  Save your money on this one and spend it on something fun and new, like the O-Gloss by Smashbox which I'm majorly coveting right now.
