Dusky Dreams

I've never tried anything from Hourglass cosmetics before, but after snapping up this new favorite, I can't wait to try the rest of their line.  The Dusk Color Link contains six eyeshadows and two blushes and is the perfect kit to throw in your bag when you know you'll be going out after work.  The black shadow has little bits of glitter in it and is perfect for doing a dramatic, smoky eye, especially when paired with the purple shadow and a nude lip.  The two blushes are subtle, so they won't compete with the shadows (a pet peeve of mine!)  And as palettes go, this might be my most favorite packaging ever.  It's a luxurious, decorated "book" that will look great in your bag (or anywhere else you take it).  The really cool part though is that the tray with the makeup in it is magnetized and pops right out of the package.  I'm not sure exactly why you would ever do that (maybe to switch palette colors?), but it does make them very compact and portable.  I'm heading to a wedding on the east coast next week and this will definitely be in my suitcase for my rehearsal dinner look.  There are five color palettes available (Vineyard is my second favorite), so you're sure to find one that's perfect for you.  At $75, the palettes aren't cheap, but everyone deserves a good makeup splurge every now and then.  Right?

Free Makeovers

For those of you in the Los Angeles area (which luckily includes us - whoo hoo!) head over to Barney's in Beverly Hills next Saturday, May 10th from 11am-6pm for a complimentary makeover.  Hourglass cosmetics creator Carisa Janes will be there, as well as lead makeup artist Josh Wolf, so you know you'll be getting great advice.  (Plus, you're in Barney's and when is that not fun!)  It's too bad my parents live on the east coast because this would be the perfect Mother's Day outing.  (If I get a chance to go, I'll think of you the whole time, Mom.  I promise...)

Everyone who attends will receive a full-sized eye shadow, and if you purchase over $100 worth of products, you'll receive the Sheen Reflective Lip Gloss in Beach.  If you spend over $250, you'll receive a leather cosmetic bag.
