Be Fresh

P198303_heroI know I've previously written about my love for Fresh's Sugar Lemon scent. I'm not sure it's completely appropriate for winter, it's definitely more of a lighter perfume, but since I live in Los Angeles, it's not like it ever gets to be "real" winter anyway. When it hits ninety degrees the week before Thanksgiving, you know you're not on the east coast anymore. Also, I've been out of the Lemon Sugar scent since I accidentally left it in NJ the last time I was there, so I've really been craving it again. My other forty-seven perfumes just aren't enough, apparently. Plus, it's almost Christmas and that means holiday gift sets at Sephora, which I am powerless to resist. For only $58, this Fresh Sugar Tart Gift Set comes with a 1 ounce Sugar Lemon Eau du Parfum, a Sugar Lemon Shower Gel and a Sugar Lemon Body Lotion. That's a great set because I like to layer my scent. I mean, you can't use Dancing Waters shower gel and then spritz on the Sugar Lemon perfume and expect it to mix. That's just crazy talk! So this is a great deal because I would never buy all three of them on their own. Well I might, but probably not because I'm trying to get through the ones in my closet before I buy more, since I have more lotion than I could use even if I lived in the middle of the Sahara. But when it's all presented in a cute little gift set box like this, it's kind of hard to resist. Even the packaging is adorable, although any product I buy is only in the box for approximately 4.2 seconds before I have to open and start using it. But still, who doesn't appreciate a cute box? Oh, and you know what else comes in a cute box, Santa? Anything from Tiffany's. Even if it's just a keychain. (Actually, scratch that. If I opened one of those little blue boxes and found a keychain, that would be bad. Very, very bad. I would need at least a bracelet to make me happy). I guess that makes me sort of materialistic. Or someone with good taste. Eh, let's just say I'm both and call it a night.

How to Smell Fresh

00000850

Much as I love my Angel perfume (it’s been my go-to scent for close to a decade), the sweaty days of summer usually leave me longing for something a little less heavy. Sometimes, that’s my Angel Innocent (See – that’s how much I love it), but this year, my favorite summer scent is Lemon Sugar by Fresh.

Fresh products can be found at Fresh stores, Sephora and numerous online product sites (Amazon usually has the best selection). This scent is great – it smells exactly like its name implies, sort of a cross between those sugar cubes your grandma used to put in her tea (but would secretly sneak you to eat when your mom wasn’t looking) and freshly squeezed lemon juice. The price isn’t bad either – you can get a 1 oz bottle for only $22, and it’s the perfect travel size for a last minute summer road trip (Vegas? Who mentioned Vegas?). However, if you’re looking for value and love the scent as much as I do, pick up the 3.4 oz bottle for only $55 – you’ll save yourself some cash and smell delightful long into the gloom of November.

The great thing about this scent is that it’s so light, it’s almost impossible to turn yourself into one of those people who can clear an elevator in five seconds flat (Seriously, to those of you who over-perfume, if you’re going through your entire supply of Stella McCartney in less than a month, it’s time to step away from the bottle and rest your itchy trigger finger cause you’re killing the ozone layer, not to mention my allergies).
