MAKE UP FOR EVER Goes Mobile

You guys, this is the coolest thing I've heard about in a long time!  Starting on February 1st and continuing through mid-April, MAKE UP FOR EVER is taking their Make Up School on the road.  The bus you see above will be traveling to nine different cities doing something that no makeup brand has ever done before - inviting customers to bring in their makeup bags and the MAKE UP FOR EVER experts will teach them how to use their products, even if the products aren't from MAKE UP FOR EVER.  I mean, how great is that?  That's one of the reasons I never do these kind of things - my makeup bag has so many different brands in it that I can't really go to any one counter, but this event makes that possible.  Their goal is to teach women how to actually do their own makeup and use what they already own, which is fantastic.  In addition, they've partnered with Christina Ricci, who will be creating a special makeup bag for the tour, which'll be available to buy at all the stops on the tour, and later at Sephora.com.  To book your own appointment, just visit MAKE UP FOR EVER's site here and click on the MAKE UP BAG REMIX tab.  If you go, have fun!

Meet Stila's Sarah Lucero

Stila Celebrity Makeup Artist and Global Creative Director Sarah Lucero will be stopping by two Sephora stores in Los Angeles tomorrow and Saturday to share her favorite tricks and tips on creating everything from the perfect cat eye swoop to how to most effectively use BB creams during the summer. 

Here are the details:

Friday, May 25th - Sarah will be at the Sephora in Manhattan Beach (in the Manhattan Village Shopping Center on Sepulveda Blvd.)

Saturday, May 26th - Sarah will be at the Sephora in South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa

Sarah will be doing personalized makeup consulations, which is super cool because her work has been featured in so many fabulous places (on the runways at Fashion Week, on your favorite celebrities...)  She's also Stila's Global Director of Education, which means that she spends half her time traveling and training Stila's field team on how to use and sell the latest Stila products.  (Sounds like a dream job, right?)  The other half of her time she spends as the lead artist at top fashion shows and acts as a beauty expert for both TV and print and is the Stila spokesperson on HSN.  Stop by and see her if you can make it!

CoverGirl's Beauty Bar

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to check out CoverGirl's pre-MTV Movie Awards Beauty Bar at Nine Zero One salon in West Hollywood with my friends Charli and Jen for some fun celebrity spotting (Demi Lovato, Rumer Willis, Aubrey O’Day, Karina Smirnoff and Stephanie Pratt, to mention a few) and beauty treatments.  It was so nice just to kick back and relax with our chic Hpnotiq purple cocktails and enjoy some finger sandwiches and deliciously decadent macaroons.  (I could've easily scarfed down the whole tray!)  

The event included tons of different ways to beautify yourself, including a FakeBake area where you could get spray tanned and walk out with a golden glow.  I was tempted to indulge, but then I just got lazy, so I treated myself to a mani/pedi instead.  (A gorgeous coral on my toes and a slate grey on my fingers).  Makeup artists were demonstrating their favorite looks on people, and there were stylists giving everyone some fashionable braid hairstyles, several of which I'm definitely going to attempt to copy at home.  (We'll see how that goes...)  We also got sent off with gift bags full of Wella Brilliance products for color-treated hair, which I'm excited to try, and some of CoverGirl's new summer offerings, including their NatureLuxe Gloss Balm.  I'll definitely report back once I try them.  

All weekends should include fun events like this.  I would be a much happier girl on Monday mornings! 

Party Time

If you're in the L.A. area next week, you'll definitely want to head over to South Coast Plaza to celebrate the opening of the new Origins store.  It sounds like quite the party - Origins is partnering with Straight No Chaser, a 10-man, all male a capella group, who will be performing a 30-minute set in front of the store.  After the concert (with free drinks and canapés!) there'll be free mini-facials and deluxe Origins samples (while supplies last).  Afterwards, Origins will even plant a tree on behalf of all the attendees through Global ReLeaf (which has already planted more than 150,000 trees with Origins).  Sounds great, right?  I need to be independently wealthy so I can attend all these fabulous soirees!     

Stila's Warehouse Sale 2010

It's that time of year again!  Stila's annual Warehouse Sale is this Saturday, December 11th from 8am to 3:30pm.  If you're in L.A., it's definitely worth getting up early for on a weekend (and this is coming from someone who never even considers getting out of bed before 11am when I don't have to).  There's always tons of great products there at amazing prices - I usually get a bunch of stuff for myself (of course!) and then buy some of the sets for Christmas or birthday presents for my friends and family.  You'll definitely want to get there as early as possible though, just to make sure you don't miss out on any of the hot items.  The address of the sale this year is:

Urban Decay Loves NYC

I am so beyond jealous of all of you product whores in the NYC area who can go to this.  On Saturday, August 28th from 1-9pm, the Sephora in Times Square (the one at 1500 Broadway) will be hosting a one-day sneak peek sales event for Urban Decay's newest Book of Shadows, Vol. III (AKA Urban Decay hearts NYC).  There will only be 1000 of them for sale and there's a limit of 3 per person on a first come first served basis, so definitely make sure you get there early so you don't have to leave disappointed.  How fantastic is it?  Love, love, love, love, love it!  I think it's my favorite one they've released, actually.  It has pop-ups of iconic NYC imagery (like a taxi and the Empire State Building) on it and it even lights up to show off the city skyline.  I mean, could it possibly be any cuter?  No, no it could not.
