Crest-ing to Beauty
I know I've written posts about my dental overachieving before, but none of them included my favorite tooth product of all - Crest Whitestrips. I love these things. Love them. Like, to the point where I have to mark on a calendar the dates that I've used them because you're supposed to let a certain amount of time lapse in between doses (so your teeth don't become radioactive and glow in the dark, I guess) and I want to know the exact day when I can Whitestrip again safely. Basically, you just peel the backings off and stick the strips on your top and bottom teeth and the bleach whitens them. That's as complicated as it gets. And you can wear them whenever. (Although I would not, as the box suggests, put them on for my commute to work because that just seems kind of risky. What if you're stopped at a red light next to a cute boy? What if you get into an accident and you're wearing ugly underwear and tooth strips? How horrible would that be?) Mostly I just put them on when I'm watching TV because at two strips a day, it only takes one episode of "Friday Night Lights" to whiten. And honestly, I can only speak for myself, but they do work. My teeth are pretty white to begin with (I know it's not nice to brag, but they are. It's because I'm literally incapable of brushing less than twice a day and I floss and use mouthwash too. I've been so drunk that I couldn't stand up and still managed to brush. You can make fun of me. It's okay). I'm guessing that if your teeth are yellow or dull, it might take more than one box to make a difference, but if you're anything like most people I know, the first time you use them, you'll notice a change. The box also says that it might make your teeth sensitive, which I did notice, but it wasn't horrible and I'd consider it totally worth it. The strips do leave a weird gel behind which I've heard some people bitch about, but seriously, it's gel. Who cares? Rinse your mouth out! It takes two seconds! Some people will complain about anything. (Although maybe these are the people who wear them while commuting, which would be kind of annoying. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt). They're not super cheap, but if you get them at Target or Drugstore.com, you can save a few dollars and it's still a fraction of the price it costs to get it professionally done. And really, if it comes down to adding another pair of shoes to your collection or walking around with yellow teeth, which do you think is more important?
