Prepped For A Long Day

If you know anything about me, you know that I have absolutely no willpowerPp_img_skinfx when it comes to food and make-up.  It seems like a strange combination, but generally shopping and eating go hand in hand for me (perusing Sephora with a Churro in my hand?  Not such a bad day).  When I walked into my local beauty supply store (Naimie's is awesome if you've never been and you live in LA) I had a mission to only replace my foundation by Cover FX.  That was it.  No more.  Of course, as I stood before the display, I dabbed on a bit of Skin Prep FX by Cover FX and I was in love.  Not the kind of conveniently show-up-at-Sbarro-when-I-know-you're-working love, but more the deep, passionate Titanic love.  This is, hands down, the best primer I have ever used (coming from me, that means a lot because I have always been the biggest Smashbox Primer fan).  Skin Prep FX sinks into skin almost immediately, feels so silky going on, actually hydrates skin with collagen and has this cool pump at the bottom that rises to make sure you get all the product!  Side note:  How annoying is Smashbox's design for their primer that you're constantly scrapping the bottom of the container with a Q-tip?  Skin Prep not only feels great going on, but it actually makes my foundation last all day long.  I get home at night and my blackheads are still sufficiently  covered!  It actually works out to be cheaper than Smashbox (bigger bottle, folks) and you can get it both online (Sephora or their website) or various beauty supply stores.  It is well worth the money and the extra effort of finding it at a store.  Also worth the extra effort is finding a Gloria Jeans Coffee because their highly-caloric deliciously sweet holiday blendeds are ridiculously yummy.

Greatest. Foundation. Ever.

When I went into my favorite local beauty supply store (Naimies for any of you people who live in Los Angeles) the girl convinced me I had to try the CoverFX line.  Being a creature of habit, and a strong Laura Mercier fan, I was hesitant at first but, really, I figured why not.  I am so happy that chick dragged me to the counter because this line is so wonderful I can't stop raving about it.  Created by a woman who Pp_img_naturalfxworks with burn victims and other people with skin discoloration and acne problems, CoverFX is a line that really creates flawless skin.  I bought NaturalFX which is a wonderful water-based (think major hydration) foundation that won't clog pores, covers imperfections (even rostacea) and lasts all day long.  I tend to have redness around my nose, as well as a ton of blackheads, and this stuff covered everything!  My face looks perfect (why can this stuff not fix my huge ass).  The shade matches my skin perfectly (shades are based on skin color as well as undertones).  In fact I was stopped by numerous other women in the store to ask which foundation I had on because my skin was "glowing" (their actual words).   Also, with an SPF of 15 I don't have to worry about any further damage to my skin.  Oh, and the best part - this foundation is not expensive!  In fact, it's cheaper than my Laura Mercier one.  I'm a fan for life and my face is softer and not dry at all - even around my nose.  Woo hoo!
