The Worst Eye Makeup Remover

I have only liked two eye makeup removers (Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover and Clinique Naturally Gentle Eye Makeup Remover) after trying about everything on the market so why I strayed last night and purchased a new one is beyond me.  There I was, standing in Rite Aid, and instead of picking up Neutrogena (my goto), I reached out and bought Cover Girl Clean Makeup Remover for eyes and lips because it saved me $2.00.  Stupid, stupid move.  This makeup remover is quite possibly the worst I've ever tried and I'm usually a fan of Cover Girl (they do make my fave mascara, after all).  Anyway, this stuff is incredibly greasy and doesn't remove any amount of makeup at all.  I will never make this mistake again.  I am so sorry Neutogena for straying - it's like when you cheat on your hairdresser and the universe punishes you with a bad haircut (seriously, that happened to me not 3 weeks ago when I was pulled in by a $20.00 haircut at Wax Poetic salon - and came home with a terrible, uneven do!!)

LashBlast Length

I really like all of Cover Girl's LashBlast mascaras and the new LastBlast Length might be my favorite one yet.  The super long, super skinny brush makes it easy to reach all of your lashes in one swoop and the brush doesn't hold a lot of extra mascara, so it doesn't clump going onto my lashes at all.  (Or once it's on, for that matter).  It definitely does what it promises - my lashes look longer once I swipe this on and that's always a good thing.  (It's not meant to be a volumizing or thickening mascara though, so don't expect it to give you those results).  It's also virtually flake-proof - no dreaded racoon eyes when I'm wearing it, which is  nice.  My absolute favorite part about it though is the fact that the skinny brush makes it perfect for applying mascara to my lower lashes.  I'd just about given up on using mascara on them because it always clumped or rubbed off under my eyes, but something about this brush just makes application a cinch and gives them just the right amount of product to make them stand out.  Genius!  No matter what mascara I've been using on my top lashes, this is the one I've been putting on my bottom lately and it's worked out great.  Especially since it's under $10 (even cheaper with a coupon).  Definitely a bargain to put in your basket the next time you're browsing the drugstore aisles.  And way more fun to buy than paper towels or toilet paper!         

Light Up Your Lashes

Despite the fact that I've bought a ton of mascaras lately, I was somehow unable to resist picking up Cover Girl's new Exact Eyelights Eye-Brightening Mascara when I walked into CVS a few days ago.  (It's the displays!  I'm telling you, they get me with the displays!  They can make anything look awesome!)  I was intrigued by Cover Girl's claim that it would make my eyes four times brighter due to the light-reflecting metallics each mascara contains, and the fact that there are specific mascara shades for each different eye color.  (I bought Black Ruby for my green eyes).  Here's the thing - I wouldn't say that I noticed my eyes being particularly brighter, but as a mascara, I really liked it.  The shade (which is sort of a muted dark purple) looked great on my lashes, so they clearly know what they're talking about color-wise, and the brush was great.  It made the mascara super easy to apply and it even gave my lower lashes thickness without any clumps and usually I'm terrible at making that happen.  I'd probably use a more dramatic black mascara for a night out, but for daily use, I'm definitely adding this to the rotation, especially since it's under $10.  (At that price, I can go back and get the Black Gold shade meant for hazel eyes too because it just sounds pretty!)

Cover Girls Wear IncrediFULL

I don't know why, but I almost never buy Cover Girl products. It's not a drugstore bias because I can throw down for Neutrogena, Revlon, Maybelline, L'oreal... without batting an eyelash, so I have no idea why I don't buy more CG. Maybe I'm remembering all the Christie Brinkley ads from my youth and am still depressed that she looked better at forty-five than I did at eighteen. Who knows? Either way, when I saw a display of Cover Girl's new IncrediFULL lipstick at my local Long's this past weekend, I decided to try it. I kind of had mixed results - I purchased a bright pink color because I thought it would look really cute with my newly acquired tan (yes, I'm just that shallow), but although I ended up liking the color, it looked kind of odd on my lips. For some reason, even though the formula was moisturizing and didn't dry out my lips, it gave them a weird wrinkly appearance that made them look about a hundred years old. So strange. It's possible that it was from the frosty pink color, but I'm really not sure. The main selling point of the lipstick is that it's supposed to plump your lips (hence the name), but at least for me, if there was any swelling, it was hard to notice. Although to be fair, maybe it was hidden by the wrinkles. That being said, it goes on with a cooling sensation that I really liked. It makes your lips feel like they're plumping without the pain of some of the other brands - the website describes it as being a "refreshing, tingling sensation" and I totally agree. It sounds weird, but I definitely prefer it to a basic, boring lipstick. And since the shades are only $6.99 (less if you can find them on sale), I think I'll definitely go back and buy another color or two to see if the lip wrinkles were a one time phenomenon. Maybe it was God's way of telling me I should stay out of the sun and stick to self-tanner from now on. I'll bet Christie Brinkley never has to think about things like this....

Lashes like the Queen

On a day when I’m running completely ridiculously late, I will bring down my beauty routine to simply include moisturizer, foundation and mascara.  I cannot and will not set foot outside without my mascara.  And while I’ve always fancied myself a strictly department store mascara chick, I was recently won over by Lash Exact by Cover Girl.  Who knew my lashes could look even better and at less than half the price!  I have to be honest, I was initially drawn to the mascara because I saw an ad where Queen Latifah is looking all pretty with her big purple hat on.  And since I’ve been a fan of the Queen’s since “Ladies First,” I was on my way to the drugstore to purchase “her” mascara.  It has a new type of brush where it helps to stop the mascara from clumping and it actually works.  The mascara coats my lashes evenly and makes them look delightfully perfect!  While I still feel as though I should be loyal to department store mascaras, with Lash Exact, I have begun to cut ties and save more in my bank account.  Also, if you go to the Cover Girl website, you can get the address to send in your old department store mascara and they’ll send you a brand new, free tube of Lash Exact.  Maybe the Queen and I can join forces to rap about the free mascara.
