All Hail Chanel

I have to confess, mascara has never been one of my favorite products to buy. It's just so... boring. Because once you leave behind the bright green and blue shades that we somehow thought looked good in seventh grade (shudder), there's just not enough variety to make mascara all that interesting, at least for me. That being said, I've been lucky enough to try a few really great ones recently - most notably, Benefit's BADgal and CoverGirl's Lash Blast, so I'm on kind of a mascara testing kick lately. Continuing the streak is Chanel's fantastic Cils Á Cils Lash Building Mascara. I got it as part of a Christmas present and it's quickly edged out the other mascaras in my drawer to become my favorite. It goes on super smoothly, with zero clumps or stuck together lashes, but even one coat is enough Maemu297lgto make my lashes look long and thick (two is perfect for a more dramatic look on a night out). It's funny how you never realize what a difference a good mascara makes until you have one, isn't it? It's kind of like how you think Hershey's is good chocolate until you try Godiva. (Yes, I'm craving dessert right now. Why do you ask?) The only two drawbacks I can find to this mascara are the price - a steep $26 (ouch!) and the fact that after 10 or so hours of wearing it, I keep ending up with dark circles of old mascara under my eyes. It does not look good. I really need to start checking myself out in the mirror more often so I can stop walking around looking like I just came off a day long bender in Vegas. In all fairness though, I think most mascaras I wear seem to flake like this after that length of time, so maybe it's not Chanel's fault. I'm slightly worried though - now that I've made the leap to $26 mascara, it's only a matter of time before one of their $3000 bags starts looking reasonably priced...
