I love a new eyeshadow palette, but I think we can all agree that even in the best ones, there's shades that are (to put it charitably) not the best. (To put it not charitably? Butt ugly!) So Buxom's new Customizable Eyeshadow Bar Palette is pretty much my new favorite thing. You buy the empty palette with six slots and then YOU get to decide what shades go in it. Genius. And there are a whopping FORTY shades of shadow to pick from, in finishes from metallics to mattes to shimmers and everything in between. Basically, it's like having an entire shadow wardrobe at your disposal and getting to pick only the shades you know you'll use. At the moment, I have a ton of neutral palettes, so the one I had put together is made up of bright colorful shades, like Posh Purple (a shimmering violet) and Backstage Pass (a shimmering lapis). I definitely couldn't wear all of them together without looking like a crazy person, but as accent shades or to use one bright color at a time, it's exactly what I wanted and no actual "normal" palette would've ever put those six shades together. All of this would, of course, mean nothing if the shadow formulation wasn't good, but no worries here. The colors are all buttery soft and blendable and last all day on me when layered over a primer. (And at only $12 each, are totally affordable). I'm definitely not the only one enamored with this new release because they have an almost perfect rating on Sephora's website and there are a bunch of shades sold out, and I can't remember the last time I saw that happen. (You can check out all the shades available here). Get thee to a Sephora and start customizing now!
