Mineral Blush Makes me... well... Blush!

Avon's new lightweight loose powder blush, Smooth Mineral Blush, goes on so smooth and even I was Prod_1040369_lg literally stunned.  I usually struggle to get my blush looking perfect (not clown-like) and with this one, I put forth minimal effort (I'm lazy so minimal effort is great!)  I have been wearing "Blushed," which is a deep rose color in the container but leaves a lovely delicate rose color on my pale cheeks.  It blends right and leaves cheeks literally glowing (that after workout glow I love, but hate to work out for).  Aside from how lovely this looks on cheeks, I have been experiencing sticker shock from it, but not in the way you'd think.  The blush retails for only $9.00, which is amazing.  Check out the collection and you'll be sure to find a shade that perfectly suits you.  I am a click-a-holic when I'm on the site, so I tend to buy more than I ever could need.   Eh, that's why I have a job - to buy beauty products.

MAC Beauty Powder Blush

The one product that I have the least of is blush.  I don't know why because I do enjoy a good cheekBeautypowder_amb_s_6 color, but I probably have one blush for every 75 lipsticks I own.  (Scary, I know).  So a collection of all blushes, especially MAC blushes, is something to celebrate.  Their new (limited edition!) Beauty Powder Blush collection hits counters this Thursday, March 13th and is available in the following colors.

  • Shy Beauty - Pastel apricot with gold pearl (satin)
  • Feeling - Dirty plum with silver pearl (satin)
  • Sweetness - Intense blue pink (satin)
  • Joyous - Peach with gold pearl (satin)
  • True Romantic - Mid-tone pink with silver pearl (satin)
  • Serenely - Deep brownish red with gold pearl (satin)
  • Eversun - Neutral peach bronze with gold pearl (satin)
  • Secret Blush - Dirty neutral plum with gold pearl (satin)

I think I'm most excited to see Eversun and True Romantic, but I'm sure some of the others will capture my attention when they're right there, just begging to be brought home with me.

Trish Makes Me Blush

There is nothing like a fantastic blush to really make your face look healthy.  Easy Going blush by Trish McEvoy is the perfect pink shade which is deep enough to make cheeks stand out, but not so deep you look like a circus freak.  Trishmcevoy_v1_m56577569831355148 The powder blends effortlessly into cheekbones (you know, make the "C" shape as you swipe from apple of the cheek, up to the side of the eye) and makes my blue eyes really pop. (Not in a gross medical emergency way - more in a "wow, how can I not take you home" way)  Yeah, you'll have to shell out twenty bucks to own this beautiful shade, but it's well worth the price tag.  The powder stays soft in the case for a lot longer than other brands (my Laura Mercier blush became brick-like within months of purchase).  Now, if I start saving up maybe I can afford one of Trish's face palettes.  Sigh.  I lose my breath at the very sight of them.

Not So Smart Blush

Img_12186I love the idea of a blush magically transforming on my skin to give me my perfect after-workout glow.  There's something very space age and downright magical about it.  I got hooked on the cream blush by Smashbox (based on my fellow productwhore's recommendation), so when I read that Almay was putting out its version (much cheaper version) I was excited to test it out.  After I forked over eight bucks, I swiped the stuff on my cheekbones and waited patiently for something to happen.  Nothing did.  Unless my "perfect shade" is skintone, I am clearly missing the benefit of using Smart Shade Blush by Almay.  I bought the pink shade and while the texture is nice (a thick cream eyeshadow consistancy), it provided no color to my pale face at all.  They hyped up their special shade-changing beads (really?  that's the best name you could come up with for the magic ingredient?) but I was stunned to not even see a bit of change on my cheeks.  The rose shade is deeper so maybe that would be a better choice, but I really am not willing to throw away another eight bucks to find out.  Some things are better left a mystery to me.
