100% Worth It

Pbbw12582140v194

I've only ever bought 100% Pure's body products (shower gel, scrubs...), but the other day, I randomly picked up one of their lip glosses at Bath and Body Works and, because I have zero willpower when it comes to food or makeup, decided to buy it. I was able to convince myself it was a good purchase because I didn't have a lip gloss in that exact shade which, while true, probably won't help my case when I'm forced to declare bankruptcy in a few years. I bought the Sheer Pomegranate Wine color, which they describe as "neutral pink with a dash of shimmer," but I found it to be a little more mauve-y. I like the color though - it's definitely sheer, but not see-thru and it tastes delicious. It made me want to try an actual pomegranate, which I've never had the desire to do before, so score one for them. But beware, the description says that it'll "slightly" plump your lips. Hhhm. Slightly for me meant, "not at all." Then again, I wasn't buying it for that anyway, so I wasn't too upset. And it was only $13, so you can afford to just layer a lip plumper on top of it if you really need bigger lips. All in all, I'm glad to see my old favorite 100% Pure branching out into makeup. Now I'd like them to make me a chocolate flavored eyeliner. Would I really use it? I don't know, but the idea sounds intriguing, doesn't it?

Lime Away

P184610_hero

For some reason, even though I don't love the taste of lime in real life (aside from squeezing it into my Diet Coke - try it, it's awesome!), I can't get enough of it in a shower gel. It's the perfect wake me up morning fragrance - fruity and fresh. It definitely falls under the energizing category, which is great because I'm so not a morning person. In fact, I'm pretty sure that I don't actually reach my full IQ until at least noon, so I need a scent to get me going before then. And for some reason, lime is that scent. I've already gone through two bottles of 100% Pure's Lime Juicy Shower Gel, and now Philosophy has introduced Lime to their array of Shampoo, Bath and Shower Gels. They're both fantastic - you can't go wrong purchasing either one. Both lather up great on a loofah, letting you use a small amount for the most suds potential, and leave enough of the scent behind to make you smell clean all day. Love that! Before I discovered these shower gels, limes mostly made me think of Key West and gin and tonics, so score one for the citrus industry for expanding their reach a little. Pbbw12582116v1941 And as a side note, when I was looking the word lime up on Wikipedia, I found out that there's an organization called AFABLE - the Association For A Better Lime Experience. Seriously. I'm not making that up. They "seek to promote the use of lime in everyday cooking, and believe that lime needs better culinary representation." I'm totally not kidding. And I thought I was bored! I'm all for joining things, but some people just need to get out more.

My Bootylicious Face Polish

Grapefacialpolishes

100% Pure is my favorite line of products right now. I know I say that a lot, but believe me, if you could see my hall closet, you would be able to tell that it's clearly the frontrunner for the month of October. Their shower gel and scrubs are so fantastic, I was almost scared to try their face products on the off chance that they would suck and I would have to say that in my review. But good news - they totally don't suck! I tried the grape face polish and it's amazing. First of all, it smells exactly like grape jelly, which for some reason made me dance around my bathroom singing, "I don't think you're ready for this jelly." (Yet another reason why I could never go on a reality TV show, embarrassing moments like that). It's somewhere in between a scrub and a cleanser - it has exfoliating beads in it, but they're not so big that they scratch up your face. And it took off all my makeup, which is key for facial products like these. The only drawback I could find is that it's super sticky, exactly like real grape jelly, so if you get it in your hair or on your clothes, it takes a lot of work to clean up. But I like this product enough to make washing up naked (there I go oversharing again) or taking an extra shower worth it, and I think you will too.

Oily Lemonade is so not tasty

If you haven’t yet indulged in the 100% Pure line, which is carried at my home away from home – thePbbw12582111t144 BBW, you really need to check it out.  Their scrubs are so fantastic I could go on for days about all the wonderfulness.  But this post is not focusing on the delicious scrubs, it’s focusing on their Strawberry Lemonade Nourishing Body Cream, which I sadly have to report is less-than-stellar.  The scent is fabulous – really smells like freshly-made strawberry lemonade.  Pretty amazing they could accurately capture that scent in a lotion, I have to say.  Goes on nicely, with it’s fresh scent, but as much as I hate to utter a bad word about the line – gulp – my praise for the body cream ends there.  It’s horribly oily.  I’m not sure if it’s an over-abundance of butters or what, but since I can’t even pretend to understand the ingredients necessary in a cream, I won’t question why it’s greasy, I’ll just say that it is.  Slippery and leaves a gleam to my hands, not qualities I would want in a daily cream for my body (unless, of course, I was planning on subjecting myself to some good old fashioned oily wrestling).  I would say that you could use the cream as a night cream on your hands and feet, but you would have to cover them with gloves or socks, otherwise you’d be slipping and sliding all over your nice sheets.  To be honest, however, I don’t even think it’s worth your money to purchase this cream because my hands and arms don’t feel especially moisturized after letting the cream sink in.  I am so sorry I had to diss you 100% Pure.  I love all that you stand for (no chemical additives and no animal testing) but I just can’t love your Strawberry Lemonade Cream the way I lust for your scrubs.
